Satellite A215 notebook family to sport Turion processors

Toshiba joins AMD bandwagon

Ending a seven year cold shoulder, Toshiba has decided now is the time to offer an alternative to Intel to its notebook customers, although currently only the US site appears to be offering them.

The A215-S4757 and A215-S4767 will contain AMD Turion 64 X2 dual core processors, with the former having the TL56 model and the latter the Gold Edition TL64. The 57 has Vista Home Premium installed, while the 67 will have Vista Ultimate

Other than that, the two pre-configured models on the Toshiba website appear to be identical, with both offering 2GB DDR2, 15.4" screen, Radeon x1200 graphics and a 250GB HDD.

The 57 is priced at $889.99, while the 67 is coming in at $1299.99.
