Symantec reveals Endpoint 11.0

Symantec yesterday unveiled the public beta version of its new security bundle at Symantec Vision 2007 in Las Vegas.

Endpoint Protection 11.0, previously known as Project Hamlet, will be officially released in September.

The bundle includes antivirus, firewall, network and host IPS, rootkit detection, application and device control – all integrated into the Symantec endpoint protection agent, reported CRN.

The programmes are managed through a console that pulls together all the different technologies into one screen.

"The scan engine is more resource-friendly. It’s not just a complete on-off action, but can come on in increments, which makes it much more intelligent in that regard," said George Myers, director of Endpoint Security report at Symantec.

The pricing of Endpoint Protection 11.0 and NAC 11.0 will be announced closer to the launch date.
