After 13 years at the helm, Dixons Store Group’s chief executive John Clare is leaving the organisation, reported The Register.
Clare, who has been with the company for a total of 22 years, will leave the firm after its annual general meeting on September 5th.
The long-serving boss took over the job in 1994, when the biggest brands within the group were PC World and The Link. Later in 1997 he oversaw the launch of internet service provider Freeserve.
"After 22 years with the Group, 13 as CEO, I have particularly enjoyed working with many outstanding and committed colleagues and am proud of what we have been able to achieve during that period,” said Clare in a statement. “I feel it is time to pursue other interests and hand over the leadership for the next phase of the Group’s development."
DSG’s board has said there is a procedure in place to find a replacement and that an announcement could be expected shortly.
"On behalf of the board, I thank John for the significant contribution he has made to DSG international, in particular in overseeing the group’s development as Europe’s leading specialist electrical retailer,” said DSG chairman Sir John Collins.
