IBM sees software as future

Global hardware giant IBM has said that it expects software to account for half of its total profits by 2010 as the firm continues to move away from its traditional hardware heartland.

ZDNet reports that software already accounts for around 40 per cent of the firm’s revenues, but IBM claims that the higher profit margin in the software sector makes more commercial sense.

IBM has also stated that it expects ‘emerging country’ revenue to double by 2010.
