Sales on the up at Dixons group

Dixons Store Group, the company behind the likes of Dixons, Currys and PC World, he reported overall sales growth of 14 per cent, and like for like sales growth of four per cent for the year ending April 28th.

PC Retail’s sister site MCV reports that expansion on the continent accounted for much of the group’s success, with international sales now accounting for 41 per cent of total sales. Online has grown to claim 10 per cent of total sales.

However, DSG’s group chief executive John Clare said that whilst he was pleased with the progress his firm has made, he feels the good weather pinned back its progress in the UK and Scandinavia.

"This has been a year of significant change for the group, and in that context I am pleased with the good performance we have delivered in the UK, Nordics, Greece and in our organic start up businesses in Central Europe and Spain,” he stated. “Our new e-commerce division has seen strong growth across the year.

“New technology will continue to drive our product markets across the European landscape, led by flat panel televisions and laptop PCs. This year we should also benefit from new high definition DVD products, new games consoles and broadband communication products.”
