July set to see CPU prices fall by 50 per cent

Intel set for fresh price slash

Ahead of the launch of rival AMD’s new AMD2+ processors in Q3, leading chip manufacturer Intel has confirmed that it is to cut the price of its processor range this July.

HKEPC.com reports that July 22nd will see the likes of Intel’s Quad-Core Q6600 drop to $266 in the US – add to this the price drop that was seen in March and the chip’s RRP will have fallen by 69 per cent since the beginning of the year.

Further models, including the E6550, E6750, E4400 and E6850 will all see similar reductions in price.

Intel will also release a number of new processors in July, including the 2.2GHz E4500.
