The internet giant has announced its intention to compete with Microsoft.

Google to take on Microsoft

After various rumours and speculation, Google has admitted it intends to move in direct competition with Microsoft in the software market, reported Red Herring.

Google’s CEO Eric Schmidt told shareholders yesterday that its new tagline will be “Search, Ads and Apps.”

He went on to say that Google’s package of online applications such as browser-based word processing and spreadsheet software offers real advantages over hard drive based programmes since users are prone to loose large quantities of information when PCs crash – which would be avoided if the data was automatically saved online.

“There should be a rule against this,” Schmidt said. “If you think about it from a data perspective, what you would prefer is a trusted partner to keep all the information and have it for you on every device.”
