Nvidia launches new entry-level GPUs

The GeForce 7200 GS is positioned to provide a low-cost upgrade from integrated graphics and Nvidia claims the GeForce 7200 GS performs up to 50 per cent faster than the latest integrated graphics products in common 3D benchmark tests.

The GPUs provide full support for Microsoft DirectX 9.0, Shader Model 3, high dynamic-range (HDR) lighting support and Nvidia PureVideo technology.

Add-in card partners are offering graphics cards based on the NVIDIA GeForce 7200 GS GPUs, including Albatron, ASUSTek, Biostar, ECS, EVGA, Foxconn, Galaxy, Gigabyte, Innovision, Leadtek Research Inc, MSI Computer Corporation, Palit Microsystems, Point of View and PNY Technology.

"Windows Vista, which benefits greatly from additional 3D performance, is gaining market share and mainstream applications such as Microsoft Maps, Picasa from Google and iTunes are also starting to take advantage of 3D graphics,” said Ujesh Desai, general manager of desktop GPUs at Nvidia. “By making a small investment in graphics performance, customers buying Vista PCs can go from an underwhelming experience to one that delivers exceptional performance and features."
