Fast-growing online entertainment retailer Play.Com has staked a claim in the PC sector, launching a dedicated section to take on the likes of Dabs.

Play.Com moves into PC market

The retailer’s range, which is designed to complement the existing Electronics section, includes PCs, printers, software, components and consumerables from vendors such as Sony, Epson and ATI. The firm is hoping the section will achieve strong sales in the pre-Christmas market, supported by a dedicated marketing and PR campaign.

”With the huge growth in PC ownership, and especially home networks, we have opened a massive PC store that like the rest of site is very easy to use,” said Stuart Rowe, a spokesperson from Play.Com. “At launch this new sector already offers over 5,000 lines and we are adding new lines on a daily basis. We expect very quick sector growth in this area and will be aggressive and highly competitive in the marketplace. This new addition has been strongly supported by all of our suppliers and the initial consumer reaction proves that we are in for a great Christmas season.”
