According to a report on Gamespot, Voodoo top brass Rahul Sood and his brother, Ravi, will join HP in a new game business unit within the firm’s Personal Systems Group, reporting to chief technology officer Phil McKinney. Rahul will take the post of chief technologist and Ravi will become chief strategist of the division.
Voodoo manufactures the higher margin, top-end PCs aimed at gamers. The firm, alongside Mercury Interactive and Peregrine Systems, will be of the larger acquisitions made by HP since Mark Hurd took the reins as CEO last year.
Elsewhere, the firm has plans to team up with Yahoo to bundle its software with HP PCs sold in North America and Europe – including a co-branded HP Yahoo toolbar and a Yahoo start page. The deal is seen by some as a response to the similar partnership announced by Dell and Google earlier in the year.
