Apel will be responsible for the strategic direction and growth of Avnet business interests in Europe, the Middle East and Africa – which currently generates $1.3 billion in revenue.
Apel comes with 28 years of experience in the technology industry, in various management, marketing, sales and distribution roles. He most recently served as director of worldwide sales at Motorola Embedded Communication Computing, where he was praised for implementing a solution-and-service business model. Apel has also held positions at Digital Equipment Corporation and Compaq computers, and began his career in sales and marketing positions at National Cash Register and Thomson-CSF.
