TuneStage brings wireless networking to MP3 players.CES award caps good year for firm.

Centre stage for Belkin

BELKIN has pushed the iPod into the wireless age with the new TuneStage.
The dock allows MP3 files from an iPod to be wirelessly transmitted and played through a hi-fi system via Bluetooth technology. It is capable of transmitting from up to ten metres away through walls and ceilings, unlike traditional remotes. The TuneStage also requires no batteries as it runs directly off the iPod’s power supply. The product represents a significant advance in system integration, and increases the iPod’s position as a wider media device.
The TuneStage gained acclaim within the industry recently as Belkin was announced winner of the Best of Innovations prize at the CES Innovations, Design and Engineering awards. As well as winning the Audio Accessory category for the TuneStage, Belkin also took away six other distinctions for its products.
Robin Falconer, sales and marketing director for the firm, recognises the continuing importance of iPod peripherals: “TuneStage demonstrates our commitment to a quality and
seamless integration into the iPod experience. iPod accessories are now a dynamic ecosystem with new product solutions being launched every other week. Due to this competitive environment, we are delighted that five of our seven CES awards went to accessory solutions for the iPod.”
Belkin was also named ‘Specialist Vendor of the Year’ at the CRN awards earlier in the year.
The accolades, which are voted for by CRN readers, have been going for 12 years and are considered the most prestigious and respected in the industry. Falconer added: “We are delighted to win this award for Best Vendor, especially as we have been nominated in
the past, but not won.”
All Belkin’s winning products, including the iPod TuneStage, will be showcased at the International CES.
