UKCloud, a Farnborough–based cloud infrastructure service provider, has slashed prices across its Cloud Storage and Enterprise Compute Cloud services in a bid to compete with larger US providers.
These price cuts are UKCloud’s attempt to stake its claim in the competitive cloud solution market. UKCloud’s customers with large capacity requirements will now pay 1.5p per GB per month, down from its previous price – a discount of 66 per cent.
Smaller scale customers will see the price of their service requirements reduced by 80 per cent, and pay 9p per GB each month or 2p per GB per month.
Simon Hansford, CEO of UKCloud explained the vendor’s reasoning behind its latest strategic price cuts: “We’re delighted that our continued growth means that we can pass on these savings to our public sector customers.
“While we’re now well known for introducing price cuts on a regular basis, our tenth wave of reductions coincides with cost increases from other providers, most notably US corporations. This means that not only are our services genuinely UK sovereign and as such, our customers’ data is never subject to far reaching foreign data privacy issues, but they are also more cost competitive than ever before.”
As rapid cloud adoption continues to sweep the public and private sector, UKCloud’s response is also a way to ensure its longevity within the UK market: “We’re delighted that our partner UKCloud, is significantly reducing the cost of cloud storage from the beginning of the new year,” David Strong, head of infrastructure solutions at Sopra Steria said. “This will really help us to build cost effective, innovative and agile solutions for the UK public sector market.”
