Roku HDMI Streaming Stick to hit the UK in April

Roku has revealed that its new HDMI-enabled Streaming Stick will be available in the UK in late April.

The dongle will let user flick between 1080p HD video content using a Wi-Fi remote control or the free Roku app for Android and iOS.

At this year’s CES, Roku revealed its first smart TV.

Working with a number of partners, such as TCL and Hisense, Roku will launch a series of smart TVs with its streaming service built in.

While this news made some wonder if the firm would move away form set-top-boxes, it seems Roku is aware that not every is looking for a new 55-inch TV and there will always be those who prefer a portable device that they can use on multiple TVs.

The Roku TVs are planned for release in the second half of 2014, while the HDMI Streaming Stick will be released in April with a £49.99 price tag.
