Harlow distributor Gem has acquired the assets and brands of the Exspect range of accessories.

Gem acquires Exspect

The distribution giant has been handling the line of products – its best-sellers include iPod cases and digital camera bags – for two years, but will now be the official supplier for the mobile accessories portfolio. As part of the deal, former Exspect execs Neil Meredith and Mike Sanderson join Gem as Exspect divisional manager and marketing manager respectively.

“We have been working very closely with the team at Gem over the past two years and they have been very important as a supply route to several of our major customers,” said Meredith. “We felt that Gem had the perfect infrastructure to take Exspect to the next level, whilst causing as little inconvenience to our current customers and supplier relationships as possible.”

Gem’s managing director Chris Peacock added: “We are delighted with the purchase of a great brand in Exspect and we see this as one of the key steps in our business strategy. It will strengthen our ability to control our own destiny in this emerging market.”
