Channel event looks to offer good business opportunities

Distree 2012: A report from the ground

Distree 2012 is shaping up to be another successful year for the invaluable networking event.

Distree EMEA focuses on giving channel leaders – such as distributors and key retailers – one-to-one meetings with both existing and new vendors.

Unlike shows such as CES, for example, where the focus is on the expo, and the big showy stands, Distree focuses on more personal meetings for the channel. It is taking place at the Fairmont Hotel in Monaco – it began February 7th and runs until February 10th.

PCR arrived yesterday – it’s a hard life being sent to Monte Carlo – and is fully enjoying the buzz around this year’s Distree.

It’s clear from walking around the main meeting room that there is a lot of business being done – Distree’s organisers say that firms from over 80 countries are attending. Visitors have also had the chance to network at a drinks reception and lunches, whilst keynotes and workshops are aimed at heightening knowledge of regional market conditions, with channel experts such as GfK taking part.

We saw a wide range of firms and products on display, covering virtually ever sector, from funky LCD writing tablets to super-small form factor PCs, a bewildering array of IT accessories, and audio products in every colour.

PCR has created a Distree photo album on our Facebook page – with more to be added tomorrow.
