Designer of Microsoft’s HoloLens killed in car crash

A designer working on the HoloLens project with Microsoft has been killed in a car accident in Washington.

Mike Ey, who was an engineer for the tech company, was hit from the rear by a car travelling in excess of 100 miles per hour, reports IGN.

The driver of the speeding car was tracked by police using dogs as he tried to flee the scene. He is being held on $100,000 bail, and is facing being charged with vehicular manslaughter and felony hit and run charges.

Ey had been working on the virtual reality technology for the new HoloLens, which was revealed earlier in the year along with the Windows 10 update.

His girlfriend spoke to Kiro TV, saying that the HoloLens project he way working on was the “coolest thing ever”.

“It’s looking at the future while holding the present. Mike said it wasn’t perfect but was going to be one day," she said.
