BullGuard acquires IoT security provider Dojo Labs

IT security vendor BullGuard has announced that it has acquired DoJo Labs – a cloud-based IoT (Internet of Things) security provider.

DoJo Labs’ security solution works with a mobile app, alerting users of any security breaches and blocking any threats it identifies.

“BullGuard and Dojo share a common vision for solving this critical market need, and for delivering the products our customers need to keep them safe.”

BullGuard’s own research highlights the increasing need for commercial security solutions, with 72 per cent of survey respondents stating that they did not know how to secure their connected devices correctly. 66 per cent stated that they were worried about the security of their IoT connected devices.

Dojo Labs was named one of the ‘Cool Vendors in the Connected Home’ by Gartner.

Yossi Atias, co-founder of DoJo-Labs, said: “The transformative promise of smart homes can only be truly realised once the security problem has been solved. I am delighted to be combining forces with BullGuard at this pivotal juncture in the evolution of our industry.”

BullGuard CEO Paul Lipman said: “With the acquisition of Dojo Labs we look forward to delivering the highest level of protection to our customers across their entire connected lives.”

“More than four billion consumer devices are connected to the internet today, and this number is growing exponentially. Until now, the security and privacy of these devices has been essentially non-existent, leaving our most precious data and possessions exposed.”

BullGuard’s move into IoT comes as no surprise, considering the growth of this emerging market.

Earlier this year, Paul Lipman told PCR in an interview that the vendor is ‘very well positioned’ to deliver services in this new market.

The need for these IoT solutions will no doubt continue to be the catalyst behind numerous other developments and products within the industry.
