Boot Camp North event highlights

Various speakers took to the stage today at Boot Camp North, with talks designed to help those who attended improve their business. Here’s our roundup.

Nicola Young, OEM channel sales lead from Microsoft was first up, and she spoke about the critical role partner’s play in delivering Microsoft’s technology strategy.

She also spoke about how partners can build a profitable Microsoft business as cloud demand grows within the industry.

Carl West from analyst GfK was next, and he gave the room of resellers a detailed look at the new product categories that are going to be important to PC and tech stores in the next few years.

After these two talks, our panel of experts spoke about how resellers and retailers can make money from gaming and system building.

Frank Deer, a Harley Street hypnotist, revealed how his techniques can help businesses make more money.

Kantar Retail’s director Himanshu Pal then took to the stage, where he took a look at the current state of the technology retail market.

Kevin Jefcoate from MDisk spoke about an alternative storage solution to cloud, which is based on online technologies.

Lastly, Sarah Shields from Dell explained to the audience about issues surrounding the gender gap within the technology sector, as well as the threats and opportunities facing the retail industry.

She also hinted that Dell could be supplying Alienware gaming PCs to the trade in the near future (it currently only sells Alienware goods direct to consumers).

Products and solutions have also been showcased during the expo from the likes of Microsoft, Entatech, Northamber, VIP Computers, MDisk and Caseking and loads more.
