Artists Ben West and Felix Heyes have created a 1240 page book that contains the first Google Image result for every single letter of the alphabet.
The visual dictionary, simply entitled Google, compiles JPGs, GIFs and PNGs and currently does not violate any copyright laws as it is intended as a work of art. However the artists are looking into having a small run of softcover editions. Let’s see if they can get away with it.
Speaking about the process of compiling the book, Ben West explained to Creative Applications Network that: “We used two PHP scripts my brother Sam wrote for us. The first one takes a text list of dictionary words and downloads each image in sequence, and the second lays them out into columns and outputs a PDF.”
