The Apple iWatch and iPhone 6 will be released in 2014 with both showing brand new display technology, an analyst has predicted.
DisplaySearch made the suggestions as part of its projections for new display sizes and formats in 2014.
Apple’s iWatch was the only new wearable device listed, with the prediction that the smartwatch will use a 1.3 or 1.6-inch flexible AMOLED display with a resolution of 320×320.
The firm also forecast that the next iPhone launch may follow the dual-approach of the iPhone 5S and 5C, with two differently-sized models. The smaller, 4.7-inch iPhone 6 would use a 1600×900 resolution – greater than the four-inch 1136×640 display currently seen in the iPhone 5S, 5C and 5.
The larger, 5.5-inch iPhone 6 would boast a Full HD resolution of 1920×1080.
The firm added that both new iPhone 6 models would have their displays made using low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPC), which is rumoured to currently be used for iPhone 5S displays.
DisplaySearch also predicted a larger iPad model with a 12.6-inch screen, almost three inches bigger than the current 9.7-inch display used in the iPad Air.
