YouView, the collaborative internet connected TV platform in the UK will now release in 2012, they have announced.
Technical problems have pushed back the service, which saw major UK broadcasters, as well as BT, join the project with the aim of allowing consumers to access on-demand services on their TV’s through the web.
Originally, a pilot was expected to be launched this year, but YouView defended the decision of pushing the date back, as it wants to wait till the service runs smoothly.
“Our focus has always been to deliver a product to consumers that is right, but not rushed,” said Richard Halton, CEO of YouView.
"Creating a truly open TV platform that will bring consumers increased choice has required significant technological innovation. Our timings for the launch reflect the scale and complexity of this project.”
