Japanese camera firm Nikon is set to launch what it claims is the world’s first compact camera with a built-in projector.
The Nikon S1000pj will be able to beam out an image as big as 40 inches onto a flat surface, displaying either video or picture content.
Picture content can be collated and displayed as a slideshow, possibly making the device useful for work presentations (the device comes with a remote control and stand).
Nikon says the LED-powered projector has a brightness level of a mere 10 lumens, meaning that a dimmed or darkened room will be a necessity. The display will have a 30:1 contrast ratio.
Nikon appears to have not compromised the quality of its camera tech with the gadget. The S1000pj will feature a 12.1-megapixel sensor, 5x wide angle zoom lens with 5-way VR image stabilisation, an ISO range of 64-6400 and a 2.7-inch LCD screen.
The unit is set to launch in the UK from Sep 9, retailing at around £400.
