The world’s first Windows 8.1 TV has been launched.
Brazilian firm Apek has announced the Maxpad, a large touchscreen PC/TV hybrid which runs on Microsoft’s touch-favouring operating system.
The Maxpad is available with the option of a 39-inch, 50-inch or 64.5-inch Full HD touchscreen.
Users can also select from a range of colours for the set’s coloured bezel.
The embedded computer inside the box runs on AMD’s A10 processor combined with a Radeon HD 7660 GPU and 8GB of RAM, and features support for up to 60GB of SSD or 500GB of hard drive storage capacity.
The screen also includes a built-in five-megapixel camera for video calling, and the included remote can be used as a wireless motion-controlled mouse and keyboard.
The Maxpad will come pre-installed software programs with support for screenshots, sharing via social networks and rewinding of live TV for up to two and a half hours.
The differently-sized Maxpad models will go on sale for $5,400 (£3,209), $9,000 (£5,348) and $12,000 (£7,131) in Brazil.
Pricing and release dates for other countries have not been detailed.
