Research by Net Applications has revealed that the growth of its Windows 7 operating system has outstripped its predecessor, Windows Vista.
According to TechWorld, Windows 7 attained 7.5 per cent internet usage share at the end of January, rising to 10 per cent at the weekends, a benchmark that Vista took 11 months to achieve.
The majority of Windows 7’s market share has come at the expense of Windows XP, which after eight years remains the most popular operating system in the world by a significant margin. However, its share is dropping at three times the rate of Vista’s.
“There's no slowing of the Windows 7 growth curve,” commented Net Applications’ executive vice president Vince Vizzaccaro.
