Windows 7 has broken records to become the highest-grossing pre-order in Amazon's history.
Amazon.co.uk MD Brian McBride said that the buzz surrounding Windows 7 has “superseded everyone's expectations”.
The news will no doubt be met with the cracking of champagne bottles at the upper echelons at Microsoft. Much reputation and revenue is said to be on the line for the new OS, which replaces the divisive and largely abandoned Vista.
Microsoft has laid off hundreds of its staff in recent times, as the company fought with the global recession which had=s stung the IT sector.
Windows 7 is available now following a series of extravagant worldwide launch parties.
