Telecoms giant Vodafone is set to launch its cloud-based PC back-up service that will allow users to secure documents and digital content.
Known as Vodafone PC Backup, the service will allow customers to upload their work or personal goods to a remotely-hosted site.
With that info locked into the cloud, the data will remain accessible and intact even if a user’s computer is lost, broken or stolen.
The back-up service – targeted for both small businesses and consumers – is based on Decho's Mozy online backup service. The initiative follows a strategic partnership between Vodafone and EMC subsidy Decho.
Business customers will also be able to use a browser-based management console to control storage and permissions for multiple users.
“Our customers are often using a range of connected devices each day, with different information and data contained on each one,” said Huw Medcraft, director of Vodafone’s mobile broadband division.
“Vodafone PC Backup will enable them to centrally store this content, providing users with the added reassurance that as a Vodafone customer their files – be they critical work documents for businesses or family photographs - will be there when they need it and accessible through a variety of devices and across both fixed and mobile networks.”
