VMware develop software that allows more than one operating system to run concurrently on one machine. The system allows different systems to use the computers resources at the same time, for example, its processor, hardware and graphics card, all without interference.
Recently, parent company EMC, sold of a nine per cent share in VMware, with shares selling at roughly £15 a piece. Sales have reportedly doubled over the past year, meaning that the unit is raking in approximately £500 million per annum.
VMware's software is popular with computer users who need to access packages not compatible with their current system or for those who need to access legacy files from archaic operating systems.
