UK IT distributors VIP Computers and Realtime Distribution have announced that they are to combine their business operations.
The company will be rebranded as VIP Computers and will continue to operate from its existing Warrington and Huntingdon offices.
VIP Computers is one of the UK’s largest independent distributors of components, peripherals and consumer products, while sister company Realtime Distribution is more focused on gaming components and peripherals.
VIP bought Realtime Distribution back in 2006, and the two companies have operated independently until now.
The directors of both companies reached the decision to merge after assessing current market conditions and future opportunities for the brands.
To begin the merger process, VIP Computers has appointed Richard Marsden as sales director and Duncan McAuley as purchasing director for the newly combined operation.
Mark Reed, managing director of Realtime Distribution, will leave his role in early 2013, whilst VIP’s previous sales director, Dave Stevinson, announced that he had left the company last week.
Chairman of VIP Computers, Jatti Sahni, commented: “Moving forward, we will gain more vendors to support our combined strong customer base; and in turn our customers will be offered with a wider range of vendors, products and support services.
"This merger will cement our position as a major and much stronger components distributor within the UK market. It will also ensure we maintain our competitiveness and deliver better solutions to our customers”.
