Tablets, pico projectors and 3D LED monitors

Viewsonic outs trio of ‘world first’ products

Viewsonic lifted the lid on a number of new products at the Computex show in Taipei including ViewPad tablet PCs, W200 ultra-thin WXGA pico projector and the V3D245wm-LED 24-inch 3D monitor.

The ViewPad 7x is a new 7-inch Android Honeycomb tablet with the obligatory Nvidia dual-core Tegra processor while a new 10-inch entry, the ViewPad 10Pro, is described as the ‘world’s first dual-OS tablet’ which runs both Android and Windows 7.

The ViewPad 10Pro doesn’t switch between operating systems but rather is based on an Intel Oak Trail processor running Windows all the time and running Android as a hosted environment enabling instant switching between Windows and Android.

Adding another ‘world first’ claim to the mix, the ViewSonic PLED-W200 is the first WXGA resolution pico projector, the firm claimed, packing 200 lumens and 2000:1 contrast ratio projector into a CD player-sized device.

Meanwhile the V3D245wm-LED is a 3D-capable 24-inch ‘smart monitor’ with, you guessed it, the world’s first built-in 3D emitter. The V3D245wm claims an improbable 20,000,000:1 contrast ratio, nippy 2ms response time and 120Hz scanning rate.

The firm also launched a VFM851 ultra-thin digital photo frame and ViewSonic Camcorder HD but couldn’t seem to manage any world first features for those. Pah.
