10-inch model said to dual boot Windows and Android

ViewSonic opens ‘pre-registration’ for ViewTab 7 and ViewTab 10

ViewSonic Europe has opened a pre-registration page for customers interested in the upcoming Android tablets the ViewPad 7 and ViewPad 10.

Curiously ViewSonic’s web site has virtually no details on the upcoming Android tablets apart from confirming the name change to the ViewPad 7 and ViewPad 10 for 7 and 10-inch versions respectively. However claimed specifications, release dates and prices have appeared on UMPC Portal.

The two tablets are not just different sizes, the ViewPad 7 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon ARM-based Android tablet while the ViewPad 10 is powered by the 1.6GHz Intel Atom N455 and was shown at IFA 2010 in a dual-boot configuration with Windows and Android.

UMPC Portal claims the ViewPad 7 will launch on the 1st of October, this Friday although the site is also saying ViewPad 10 launched a month ago so we wouldn’t put much stock in these dates. The ViewPad 7 is said to be aimed at £350 (€399) while the ViewPad 10 is set for £499 (€549).

The ViewPad 7 is said to have a "3G Option" while the ViewPad 10 does not. Presumably ViewSonic will get around to publishing some official information soon since it’s already taking pre-registration on the firm’s UK web site.
