Mogul designs device to pour bucket of water over him in aid of charity

VIDEO: Bill Gates takes ice bucket challenge (too far)?

After receiving the challenge from Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates has now also been soaked in ice-cold water.

In aid of the ALS Association, tech heavyweights have all been throwing buckets of cold water over their heads to help raise money for the charity.

However, rather than pouring a bucket of water over his head himself, Gates has gone one step further, creating a device to do the job for him.

In this video Gates posted online, there are scenes of him drawing up plans to create the device, in which he pulls a lever to distribute the bucket of water over his head:

The Microsoft founder said in the video: "I want to accept this challenge, I want to do it better than it’s been done. I’ve been working on this, I’ve got this design. It’s going to be great."

In slow motion, we can witness the bucket spilling over his head. Gates then nominates entrepreneur Elon Musk, television host Ryan Seacrest and Chris Anderson from TED to take part in the challenge.

Mark Zuckerberg, Satya Nadella and Larry Page are among those who have also taken on the dare.

Those who wish to donate to the charity can do so via the ALS webpage.
