Retailer also partners with Cooler Master UK and CM Storm for custom accessories

Utopia becomes first system builder in Europe to offer custom-painted laptops

UK system builder Utopia Computers says it’s become the first in Europe to offer gaming laptops with full chassis custom paint jobs.

The retailer has been offering custom-painted laptop lids and fully painted desktops for the last 12 months. It uses its own ‘Metallix’ automotive grade custom paint mix; its paint team previously worked on the Vauxhall Rally team’s cars.

Utopia has also teamed up with vendors Cooler Master UK and CM Storm to offer a customisable range of peripherals. These include the Reaper Mouse, Pulse-R headset and Mech Gaming aluminium series products with custom paint options.

The Metallix paint options start from £89 and go up to £249 for the full laptop chassis options.

Utopia director Craig Hume says the paint offering is the ‘same treatment process that a ultra high-end sports car would get’.

"We offer everything, all the way up to ultra-luxurious, colour-changing Chameleon paint," he said. "We can even match your motorbike or car’s paintjob.”

Mark Laurie, Director at Utopia, added: “A lot of our customers would love to have the time to create and build their own custom system but simply don’t have the time. The products we offer give them full customisation of every aspect of their build, right down to the paintwork, cabling and peripherals. We look forward to more exclusive launches with Cooler Master/CM Storm in the future.”

Hal Greenwood from Cooler Master UK commented: "We are extremely happy to be working with the guys at Utopia on a project like this. The company has an unrivalled enthusiasm for pushing the boundaries and adding that bit extra for their customers."
