An evangelical Christian ‘cult’ in Brazil has forbidden its follows to use any USB device on the basis that the USB symbol is a symbol of Satan.
Brazilian web sites are widely reporting the story including bolbolhando.com.br which carries the original Portuguese in full and cites the ‘Apostle’ Welder Saldanha claiming that the symbol of Satan is always present in Christian homes.
“The symbol of what (name even he likes to say) is a trident, which is used to torture souls go to hell. Use only a symbol of those shows that all users of this technology are actually worshipers of Satan”
Saldanha’s followers have since been reportedly ordered to switch to other technology. Bluetooth is apparently in the clear because “Blue was the colour of the eyes of our savior Jesus Christ.”
