A number of US ISPs have agreed to cut off the internet connections of file sharers in a scheme that mirrors the three strikes policy of some EU nations.
According to the Inquirer, AT&T, Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Verizon and Cablevision have created the Center for Copyright Infringement in alignment with the RIAA and MPAA record industry groups.
The new system is similar to those proposed for the UK and will involve a warning letter at first, which will then escalate to include throttling of an internet connection or even full disconnection.
