A US company has initiated a lawsuit against the Chinese government, alleging that over 3000 lines of code were stolen to create the controversial Green Dam internet monitor software.
According to the Telegraph, the suit has been brought by a Californian business called Cybersitter, which claims to have created the world’s first internet filter software.
Although the allegation of theft has been backed by independent researchers at the University of Michigan, the case itself hinges on whether or not US patent laws can be implemented in the Chinese state.
The case also accuses a number of PC vendors, including Lenovo, Sony and Toshiba among others, of failing to respond to cease-and-desist letters regarding the distribution of Green Dam.
