Sales of Blu-ray discs in the US shot up 68.5 per cent year-on-year in the first quarter of the year.
Blu-ray disc sales in the three months to 31 March hit $331.31m, according to Blu-ray.com.
In total Blu-ray accounted for 12.3 per cent of packaged media sales – up on the seven per cent of the market it won in the same period in 2009.
Looking at March in isolation, sales reached $130.36m, an 86 per cent year-on-year increase.
