Best Buy’s European invasion will consist of between 100 and 200 stores launched over the next five years, the retailer revealed in a joint announcement with its partner The Carphone Warehouse today. And it looks like the UK will be getting the bulk of the superstores – the first of which will open next summer. The US giant will then make its online and retail push into mainland Europe after the first wave of launches here.
PC Retail was previously told that the sites will be between 30 and 60 thousand square feet, significantly larger than the current offering in the UK PC and technology retail space.
The Carphone Warehouse simultaneously announced a number of expansion plans, including new store launches across Europe, a stronger laptop push and a move into video games.
Stay tuned to PC Retail online for more details of this story as it emerges, with an in-depth look to follow in the November issue.
