Trend Micro has secured exclusive rights to supply Carphone Warehouse's customers with security software.
It will see Trend Micro supply its range of laptop, netbook and smartphone security solutions throughout the retailer's 812 stores in the UK.
Carphone Warehouse claims it signed the exclusive deal to ensure that it can drive home how important security has become for mobile devices. "Many people are unaware that their smartphone is exposed to the same security risks as their PC or laptop when surfing the web," explained Carphone Warehouse's UK CEO, Andrew Harrison.
"Our customers are increasingly using portable devices to carry and share important and confidential corporate and personal information," he continued. "As a responsible retailer, we want to ensure that they have the best in class data security to protect them from cybercrime.
Trend Micro's vice president for EMEA Anthony O'Mara said that he is hopeful that the deal will help to protect UK consumers. "We're excited to the Carphone Warehouse's exclusive content security partner and we are confident that this relationship will provide customers with increased protection from cybercriminal activity."
