New feature will enable viewers to buy goods and donate to political campaigns

TiVo teams up with PayPal to create ‘click-to-by’ TV ads

As of this autumn, TiVo viewers will be able to buy products they see on adverts through their TV using PayPal.

This new deal between TiVo and PayPal means users who like an advertised product can buy it straight away with just a few clicks of the remote. These ads will be additional ‘pop-ups’ that will appear during various interactions such as when a show is paused.

TiVo, which has around 2.5 million users, will be incorporating this into its service this autumn via the company’s first integration with PayPal.

“It’s something consumers have wanted, but carriers have been shy about sharing the tip plate, if you will,” said Richard Doherty, research director with the Envisioneering group.

Along with buying goods, the new feature will also include the ability to make donations to political campaigns and collect coupons for shopping with PayPal.
