Supermarket giant Tesco is set to offer IT support as part of a broader home repairs service.
According to The Sun, ‘Tesco Home Services’ is currently being trialled at a store in Swindon, Wiltshire, and could be rolled out nationwide.
The supermarket is teaming up with local tradespeople, who must pass an accreditation process to be part of the scheme, which covers building, glazing, locks, heating, roofing and drainage, as well as IT support. It was launched earlier this month, and 15 tradespeople have already signed up.
Customers call a central number and assignments are shared out, with Tesco receiving a commission on all jobs.
Home services director Rob Brown said: "We are giving people in Swindon the confidence that what they will receive will be good value and reliable."
