Shopping app transforms posters into moving images

Tesco launches virtual window shopping in London stores

Three central London Tesco Metro stores have been installed with innovative virtual shopping technology for its F&F clothing range.

Customers can download an app, developed by Aurasma, and point their smartphone at F&F posters. The pictures will then transform into moving images on their phones, showcasing the clothes on a catwalk. Shoppers will then be able to add items they like to their virtual shopping basket.

Emily Shamma, Tesco Clothing online director said: “This is really exciting new technology that we think our customers will enjoy using. It’s really convenient for the busy office workers who use Tesco Metro stores during their lunch break or on their way home after work.”

Posters are on display now in the windows of the Covent Garden, Dean Street and Tooley Street flagship Metro stores.

Hopefully, if this new way of clothes shopping takes off, we could see it being applied to the IT department of Tesco stores.
