PC World is to become the first retailer in the UK to offer its customers remote support using Intel's Remote PC Assist Technology through its TechGuys support division.The retailer is hoping that by introducing the new remote service, it can speed up the time it takes to diagnose and fix minor software errors and virus infections.
"The TechGuys Remote Assist minimises the time needed to spend on repairs or resolving software problems, enabling our customers to spend more time on the things they really want to do with their PC," commented senior international buyer at PC World, Simon Betts.
As part of its promotion of the service, PC World will be offering customers purchasing its new Advent QC6003 and QC8003 PCs a year's free access to the new service.
"We are pleased that PC World's Advent customers are the first to reap the benefits of the TechGuys Remote Assist, bringing them a winning combination of high spec PCs backed up by the reassurance of the latest Intel Remote PC Assist Technology, should they ever need it," added Betts.
It was a sentiment echoed by Intel's Platform Extension Services division general manager David Tuhy. "Intel and PC World have a common vision to make the home PC easier to use and maintain.
"For the first time, consumers can select from a range of PCs that have Intel Remote PC Assist Technology, giving them a built-in lifeline when they need it most by notifying technicians for PC service with a simple click of a button," added Tuhy.
"PC World is in the forefront of providing consumers simplified computing solutions and differentiating their services in the marketplace."
