Distributor partners with HTC for EU market

Tech Data targets education sector with Google Chrome Management Console

Distributor Tech Data has announced plans to target the education sector after becoming distributor for Google’s Chrome Management Console (CMC) solution.

According to Gartner, last year 82 per cent of Chrome devices that were sold in North America went to schools or colleges and the total market worldwide was worth 5.2 million.

Mark Glasspool, director of printing, PC components and consumer electronics at Tech Data, said: “Chrome is a really great option for education and CMC makes it even more attractive.

“We expect Chrome sales to education to really take off over the next few months. CMC completes the story and gives resellers a very convincing proposition to take into schools.”

CMC administrators can assign devices to users and get configuration and usage reports, pre-install and block specific apps, create user groups and control user access.

Resellers interested in selling CMC can contact the Google team at Tech Data by emailing Google@techdata.co.uk.

In other news, Tech Data Europe has also been appointed as distributor for HTC’s new RE camera.

The distributor will be supplying national and independent retailers and mobile network operators across Europe with HTC’s latest camera.

The RE features a 16MP CMOS sensor for Full HD 1080p recording and a 146-degree wide-angle lens.

It is expected to retail for £129 in the UK and will be available in a range of colours.
