Tech Data and Ingram Micro have been unveiled as Dell's first broadline distribution partners in a fundamental shift in the way that the vendor does business.
The move, which the vendor has said was motivated by feedback from its partners, is widely expected to launch in Europe and the UK later this year.
As part of the deal, Tech Data and Ingram Micro will carry the vendor's line up of SMB-focused desktop and laptop Vostro PCs, though the firm has confirmed that it will be expanding the range of products in the coming weeks and months.
"We've been making more Dell products available in more way to more customers around the world, and these new relationships deliver further on that goal, in the process helping partners most effectively meet the needs of their customers, deliver value and grow their businesses," commented vice president and general manager of Dell's global commercial channels, Greg Davis.
"Our partners value Dell's ability to customer configure IT, but they're telling us that there are times when customers' needs are more urgent, and this agreement shows our commitment to act on feedback from partners," added Davis.
It is highly likely that Ingram Micro and Tech Data's UK subsidiary Computer 2000 will be selected by Dell to handle broadline distribution when it brings the programme to these shores.
