The biggest hint that new MacBooks will arrive in the third quarter of this year has emerged after Chinese-language newspaper Commerical Times reported that Taiwanese panel vendors AU Optronics and Chi Mei Optoelectronics had secured the lucrative contact. No further details about what panels they will supplying was revealed, though it does add further strength to previous reports that Apple may be preparing to refresh its MacBook range during the third quarter.
Analysts speaking to the paper also added that they expect shipments of the new MacBooks would reach three million units before the end of 2008.
