TigerDirect has dubbed its new Miami CompUSA concept store 'retail 2.0', with the retailer saying the move is a response to the way that the internet has changed retail, adding that it feels the store represents 'the future of retailing'."We can't hide from the world," TigerDirect's chief executive Gilbert Fiorentino told Twice. He described the move as one that showed that the retailer was taking notice of the impact that internet shopping had had on the way consumers spend their money.
The retailer has fitted out its concept store with computer terminals next to all products that can be used to display key information and videos in a similar way to the retailer's website.
"Customers may as well use our in-store PCs, rather than their home computers or BlackBerrys," added Fiorentino, saying that the move was demonstrative of its experience in online retail.
He added that the concept would, in time, allow the retailer to lower its staff count. However, he was keen to say that the reductions would not be at the cost of service, adding that the remaining staff would receive intensive training to ensure they became 'experts' in the sector.
