New RackStation is designed for small and medium-sized businesses

Synology RS814+ and RS814RP+ officially launches

Synology has today announced its new scalable 1U 4-bay rackmount NAS server.

Powered by a 2.13GHz dual-core processor, 2GB DDR3 RAM and four gigabit LANs with Link Aggregation enabled, the RS814+/RS814RP+ brings forth over 330MB/s reading and 196MB/s writing under RAID 5 configuration in a Windows environment.

New RackStation is designed for small and medium-sized businesses, which can further upgrade system RAM to 4GB in tandem with their expanding workloads and grow the total storage space up to 32TB by pairing it with an expansion unit RX410.

“The need for more processing power is rising as data usage grows. The RS814+/RS814RP+ is designed to address such needs, and is also optimised for business environments by providing the performance, reliability, and scalability at an affordable cost,” said Michael Wang, Product Manager at Synology’s Taiwan Head Quarters.

The RS814+/RS814RP+ is equipped with a comprehensive set of reliable mechanisms to ensure continuous system uptime during unexpected events.

Four LAN ports with failover support provide redundancy in the event of unexpected network failure while hot swappable drives also help to minimise system downtime during drive replacement. The redundant power supplies in RS814RP+ further guarantee uninterrupted service when power failure strikes.

Synology is unveiling its new RackStation as well as DiskStation Manager 5.0 today at an event in London.
