Apple legend Steve Jobs has died.
According to a statement from bereaved relatives, he passed "peacefully and surrounded by his family".
The tech guru had announced his resignation as CEO of Apple in late August, after surgery for pancreatic cancer in 2004 and a health scare following a hormone imbalance in 2009.
“Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being,” reads a statement on Apple’s website. “Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.”
Apple has invited anyone who wants to share thoughts, memories or condolences to email them at rememberingsteve@apple.com.
