SteelSeries has used this year’s CeBIT to showcase two new peripherals – a headset for competitive gamers and a quick-reacting keyboard.
The 7H headset offers a choice of ear cups –foam covered in hear-through cloth or leather cushions with noise-dampening foam. The 7H also features 50mm drivers in the ear-cups which fully cover the ear and deliver a “superior soundscape”, according to the vendor.
"We're introducing the SteelSeries 7H as our high-end headset for gamers who want choices in the type of comfort and sound they need to experience," said Bruce Hawver, SteelSeries CEO. "The 7H features were developed based on direct feedback from our sponsored Counter-Strike and QuakeLive players, who need to hear their teammates while practicing at home and need to eliminate external noise while competing at loud tournament venues."
The headset can be taken apart into four pieces for easy transport, and also features a retractable, uni-directional microphone that can be hidden when not in use.
Also on show was SteelSeries’ new 6Gv2 keyboard, which sports 18-karat gold-plated mechanical switches for quicker reaction times and advanced key combinations. The vendor boasts the device has a lifetime over 10 times longer than conventional keyboards.
The keyboard utilises a buffer-system created for gaming, supporting unlimited simultaneous key presses. It also contains media controls for easy access to volume, mute and other audio controls.
Both products will be available from Q2.
